totally baffled - main site editing page looks like it's been chewed

I just signed up for textpattern today and really liked the simplicity of installation, but I have to say I’m at a loss. I am not a developer; I have some standard html skills and was planning to work on css as I modded a premade template for my website via textpattern’s software. I have no idea what’s going on. It looks like everything has been chewed up? The drop downs are all legible when dropped down. I’ve reinstalled everything I could think of, thinking it was a software bug on my end.

Is this an installation error of textpattern? Can I fix it by reinstalling? If so, will I need to do a clean installation, or can I just write over what’s already uploaded? Will I lose my login information—it’s not a big deal, since I haven’t done anything with it yet, just curious?

It looks like it’s only affecting the images (the logo, buttons and vertical buttons are all images) and not the actual backend. Check the images in your in /textpattern/txp_img/ folder and if they’re corrupted, replace them with the images from a fresh download. You shouldn’t need to reinstall anything else. Also make sure you use the correct FTP transfer mode to upload them onto your webserver.

That did it! Thank you so much, I would never have worked it out—I’m not sure how I toggled my ftp to ascii from binary, but I’ll be sure to check it regularly from now on.
