Record keeping/Change log
I’m currently quoting for the re-development of a large government website. I think most requirements can be fulfilled with Textpattern and I have used most of the required modules/plugins before. The only part I’m struggling with is the Government requirement to register any changes on their website.
It states that it is a requirement that any web publishing and online service delivery system contain a record keeping capability or are linked to any a corporate record keeping system.
Has anyone any idea how to keep a change look from all edits in a fully developed Textpattern website?
All help is much appreciated.

the job is partly done but you can finish it if you have enough time.

Re: Record keeping/Change log
Well, I don’t know the exact requirements but I would go the database way.
Google might give some inspiration and the change log problem might have been solved in a generic way by MySQL already?

Re: Record keeping/Change log
Thanks for your replies,
I had a look at record keeping with MySQL but I’m still a bit lost. My client wants to have a record of all changes any of the administrators, publishers etc are going to make. I don’t want to save changes in the code (i will backup the database regularly anyway).
Do I understand correctly that a database dump should show me all amendments to the website (if I export the database correctly)? I tried it with an existing textpattern website and the new entry I have made was there. Great!
Is there any way of having the database dump done automatically?
And also, is there a way of sorting the newest modifications via date (not via table)?
Thanks very much again.
