User registration

Hya everyone, need some more txp help here, still learning.

I’ve been asked by a client to do a website that requires user registration in order to download some files (pdfs or docs mostly). When a user enters a certain section of the site, reads around some stuff about the files and their content, but in order to get the files my client want’s the user to register because there’s a lot of work going into those files and an email address and some personal data are a small price to pay for them.

Where do I start, what plugins can I use, is this doable in txp?

It’s very doable :-) The usual suspects for this kind of job are:

Mix and match to taste.

an email address and some personal data are a small price to pay for them.

Although fairly obvious, remember that not all users are honest with their personal data so the info you receive “in exchange” for the hard work might not be that useful. Expect a few “Mickey Mouse” or “Wile E. Coyote” users to register :-p

Re: User registration

Here’s a recent thread on a similar approach for collecting user name/email before allowing to download – it doesn’t require full blown registration, just a bit of info before being presented with the link.
