Displaying Sections
I’m new to Textpattern – exactly two(2) days so far so I’m just testing to see functionality right now.
The installation and setup was simple. At least I hope so. My problem is this….
I’m using the vanilla install. I created a section and an article. I set the newly created section “Uses page” as default, and the “Uses style” as default, “On Front Page” is set to “NO”
The intention is to test if when I’m viewing the site’s front page and click on the newly created section link, if that page would load up. What I’m getting is the error message – “Not Found. The requested URL /textpattern/section_created was not found on this server. My question is, did I do something wrong in the installation, OR do I have to create specific page and style for each section I create?
Looking at Textpattern, my understanding is I can use/reuse any style – page – form with any section.
If I’m wrong about that, can you please help me get the sections I created to be displayed in my browser.
I installed Textpattern on FreeBSD.
Thanks for your response….

How’d you create that link? The URL should not include the textpattern directory.

Re: Displaying Sections
All I did after install is, create a section called “test”. I left the “page” and “style” Uses to use the “default“settings. I set the “On Front Page” to “NO”. Saved it.
I then created an article, setting the section to “test”. I saved the article, went to the “view site” tab in Firefox, clicked on the new “Test” link, and got that error message.
Could you tell me what I did wrong.
Thank you..

Re: Displaying Sections
Problem solved. It was a “Clean URL” problem. I changed the Permalink setting to “? messy”. Now it works.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Displaying Sections
OK, glad to hear you worked it out. I find that to get clean URLs working on my local install I have to set up a virtual host for each TXP site.
