Can't upload thumbnails

Problem
Whenever I try to upload a thumbnail in the images-tab, I still get the same auto-generated thumbnail. I get the following success-message: “Image(s) [image_name] uploaded.”, but the new thumbnail is not being uploaded.

If I delete the auto-generated thumbnail in the images-tab, and then upload the new thumbnail, I get a blank table-cell. When I examine the table-cell with Firebug it contains the right link, but it’s greyed out.

I have changed the permission to the tmp- and the images-folder to 777. Same result.

If anybody have a clue what could cause this, I would appreciate to hear from you.

I have noticed that occasionally and in my case it was a browser cache issue: it would still hang on to the old version. Try forcing a refesh of the Image window.

Re: Can't upload thumbnails

I sometimes get it as well. I simply hit the browser reload button before I’ve saved. It pops up a liittle window and asks if you want to resend to which I reply with (I think it’s) Resend. Seems to do the trick.

Re: Can't upload thumbnails

When I reload the page after I’ve uploaded the thumbnail I get the following: Warning: unlink([path_to_thumbnail]) [function.unlink]: No such file or directory in [path_to_textpattern]/lib/class.thumb.php on line 330

I just tried to upload a jpg instead of the gif I used before, and that works fine! :)

Re: Can't upload thumbnails

Are you saying that your full-size image is a jpeg and you’re trying to upload a gif as the thumbnail?
I have never thought of doing that, but perhaps both need to be the same type.

A jpeg saved at about 90% quality should look as good as any gif.

I’m implementing Textpattern on an existing site, so the images + thumbs was already done by the guy who did the original site. I think you’re right, my issue has to do with using different file-formats for thumbs and images.

Normally I would just go with jpgs for everything, only use gif if the image had large areas of the same color.

Re: Can't upload thumbnails

Yes they definitely need to be the same image type. I do know that bit. ;)
