Installed Firefox 3 last night, now can't find my local site

I’m a fool for not knowing the answer to this, but I’m willing to look foolish in order to get back to work. I installed Firefox 3 on my mac last night. Before doing so I was working on my local site with no problems. I boot up my machine today, start MAMP and go to my bookmarked TXP login page, and I get “Not Found – The requested URL /textpattern/index.php was not found on this server” (and yes, MAMP was on at this time). My files are still in the root directory and my MAMP settings haven’t changed.

Any ideas on what has bunged things up? Or better yet, how to resolve it?

Wow. So it still totally works with Opera, but not FF anymore. Weird.

hey eggnog, I thought it was just me (or I was going crazy) same thing happened to me on the same MAMP setup – doesn’t appear to work on any other brwssrs for me though.. have you, or anyone else out there resolved this ffx3 Mamp issue? If not, can youtell me where I can get a firefox v2 install?

The freeware works. So I wonder if both of you are using the commercial version?

What if you just visit /textpattern/ instead of /textpattern/index.php ?

Here you go Camo: http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/

Back up your FF profile before you uninstall FF3 and reinstall FF2!

Uli, I’m using the freeware version of MAMP.

Ruud, I tried every possible variation of path. Nothing seemed to work for me. Camo, have you tried /textpattern/ with any success?

  • What is the actual whole URL?
  • Does the server log the request (probably doesn’t)?
  • What headers look with working request and with Fx3?

1) Here’s the URL http://example.dev/textpattern/index.php

2) I don’t know. How do you determine if the server is logging the request?

3) Sorry. I don’t follow.

I appreciate your help guys, but at this point I’ve simply reverted back to FF2 (which is fine by me) and everything is back to normal. I suppose I should plug away at this and get it working, but at the moment I’m more concerned with finishing this site than mucking about with FF.

Re: Installed Firefox 3 last night, now can't find my local site

Thanks for the link Eggnog – I’ve also reverted to FF2 and back to normal. I’m also MAMP freeware and have exact same URL as Eggnog. I tried http://localhost/example.dev/textpattern/index.php in FF3, and interestingly Safari and this works, but obviously all links to CSS etc were broken. I can’t get my http://example.dev/textpattern/index.php to work in any browser other than FF2. If anyone knows why this would be the case please let me know.

Re: Installed Firefox 3 last night, now can't find my local site

Have tried clearing Firefox’s private data? If that doesn’t work, I would backup and remove ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/ (and maybe ~/Library/caches/Firefox).
