Confusion about settings for new Txp DB on names.co.uk
I’m about to set up a DB at a new host. When I log into their control panel, I’m presented with four options:
- mysql1.namesco.net, (3735 databases, MySQL 4.1.22, 32 bit)
- mysql2.namesco.net, (2531 databases, MySQL 5.0.58, 32 bit)
- mysql3.namesco.net, (2553 databases, MySQL 5.0.58, 64 bit)
- mysql4.namesco.net, (2414 databases, MySQL 4.1.20, 32 bit)
While I’d be tempted to go for MySQL 5.0.58, it seems that Txp should be happy with any of these choices. But what’s the difference between 32 and 64 bit, or more to the point, what effect will that have if any?
I’m clueless and could do with a bit of help.
Cheers Martin

64 bit is only beneficial if you have a huge database (gigs), so MySQL can use more memory. You’re probably not going to see much difference with a Textpattern install, so I’d choose 5.0.58 and 32 bit (fewer databases on that server).
