Advice on Web Hosting.
Hi,
I’m with webquarry.com hosting and too frequently I am for no reason my sites are getting database unavailable. 4 or 5 times a week. When I am working on my site live doing edits etc it can happen more often. It takes about 10 minutes to come back on line again. Is this normal with cheap shared hosting $8.95 for 10 sites. As I am a fairly new to web development it has to be cheap because of lack of funds.
Would I expect to get a better service with Dreamhost or Siteground or something similar?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I’m very happy with gandi. I use them as a registrar and now they are running a beta hosting program that suited me very well.

I’d say it is not normal for cheap hosting to have so many drops. I’ve used many cheap hosts and all but one have been OK. Try a month on another cheap one or use the list suggested above. Note that you may have some trouble with clean url and other setup things with the cheapest ones, so it depends on how comfortable you are with sorting these things out. So the list may be your best option.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I liked the appearance of Gandi website. I will check out the list of the Textpattern Compatible Web Hosts. Thank you for your observations Peter.

Maybe you should try another hosting for example hostmysite.com
