How do I disable PREVIEW in comments? Again :)

may be, this question is incorrect, because Alex Shiels says in FAQ: “You don’t” :)
But I really need it!

I see, this is realization of the anti-spam mechanism, but most users are so lazy that do not want to leave comments in this way.

All the helpfull plug-ins and mods are dead… and they were created for older versions.

Can someone help me?

Forgive me for my English.
Greetings, dewaril.

You could build a plugin that allows users to submit comments with out the preview. But with out hacking nor plugin, it ain’t possibly and not smart at all, if we consider the important spam protection.

With out the preview the comment system would have no protection at all, as everything is tight to the preview step. It prevents remote posting, checks spamlists, IP:s, timeouts, fields and so-on. Yes, it could be changed to work with some other method, but the preview is the best core option for now. The preview also is something that the most easiest bots don’t understand, therefor leaving comments spam free ;)

But you can always Request a new plugin that would have it own spam protection functionality. The amount of spam is just too huge with out any protection, remember that :)

Spam protection?
And what about “kaptcha”?
I think, it protects…. Or not?

And by the way… Is it actually true that someone would do such plugin? In my opinion, a lot of work here.

Thanks for answer :)

Previewing comments also allows the user to, you know, preview his or her comment for mistakes.

IMO, a captcha is way more work than clicking preview (they’re not 100% spam proof either). If you have lazy users, there’s a high probability that they won’t decipher a captcha. If your content is worth it, users will take the time to click two buttons.

Captcha’s can be worked around, as JM points out, and they also have the disadvantage of making part of your site’s functionality inaccessible to visually impaired or blind users.

There are already several txp plugins that provide access to external spam-filtering services. One by Manfre and one by Eric (both Akismet integration) and one by Walker (Defensio integration).
