Re: TxP.com home page
Groovy! I was thinking is that it would perhaps be interesting to communicate some of the features of textpattern as well: e.g. plugins, xml style templating language, speed, community…? It would probably extend the length of the clip to a minute or two, but I think I’d like to know about that while shopping around for a CMS.

Yep, I agree. If you have any ideas for visuals and/or words to demonstrate something, please send them over. We could either do this all in one video or perhaps make a series of shorter ones, each focusing on one or two cool things about TXP. Maybe even randomly choose one to play on a certain page on the web site to give a flavour of what makes Textpattern the right choice?
Given the attention span of people today I’d think a series of shorter videos would be advanta… oooh, a penny ;-)

Re: TxP.com home page
Bloke, I don’t know if you intended the video(s) to go on the txp.com website? If so, is there a wireframe/prototype for the website up anywhere? I think it only makes sense to consider the videos in relationship to the textual content. I wonder what squaredeye’s point of view is…

It’s called Engravers Gothic and was the closest match I could find to the “official” font (Sackers Gothic).

At the moment I have no idea where the video(s) will end up; if anywhere at all. If there’s space on the main site — and people think it’s a good idea — they can be sized to fit the eventual wireframe, and the copy made to echo the message we want to deliver. But judging by the response so far, I guess I missed the mark and few believe video is the way to promote TXP’s features. ‘twas only an idea.

Re: TxP.com home page
Any news on the redesign yet? Or did Squaredeye became Closedeye ;)
However, this thread was started 1 year ago. 10 month ago matthew stepped in to overtake the job …. so many have contributed good ideas, time and effort… it would be fair by matthew to either present something soon or pass the project over to other designers (not talking of me here) this Lack of Momentum should be overcome and a milestone would be a 21st century website for TXP.

Re: TxP.com home page
Matthew delivered. I saw the final designs and they were awesome, with capital A. That’s what I meant in post #338 when I said “and it was big.”
The question since then has been who’s been doing the integration? I thought like 4 or 5 people had volunteered for that. Some folks around here create/launch Txp sites in a single day (not me, but I’ve seen it said). Three months should be more than enough time to get somewhere. I mean it’s a pretty simple site map, after all.
A few words on the progress at least would be thoughtful to the community.

How do you know what you saw was final?

Re: TxP.com home page
Well, if they were not final, they should have been because it couldn’t get much better than what I saw. Matthew knew I wanted to match wiki navigation design with .com so he let me see his final mocks. I’ve just been waiting for .com to launch before going ahead with it.
(Also wanted to get community confirmation that we should change the wiki’s main nav design at this point, but only after they see what it would be going to.)
@Dale: I guess wet would be the one to address that question.
