Newbie Help: Sections aren't working

I’m new to TXP and I’m getting extremely frustrated. I’ve been trying to figure this thing out but can’t seem to.

I got the default page setup and working fine. No content in it yet, but I have the main navigational structure working. And I have all my sections setup.

http://www.cmadominicanrepublic.org/index.php

The top row of tabs are all my sections. Each section I created, I just told it to use the default page (for now). But when I try to go to that section, I get a 404. To illustrate, I wrote an article under the Missions section, but when I try to go to the article I get the 404. http://www.cmadominicanrepublic.org/missions/about-missions

I don’t know if there’s something wrong with my setup or what, I’m expecting to see the default template, it’s not setup for the content yet, but I should be getting something not just a 404.

I assume your Diagnostics don’t report any problems but it may help if you could post your Diagnostic info

Messy URLs work. Set permanent link mode in preferences to ‘messy’. FAQ.

Re: Newbie Help: Sections aren't working

:( well that stinks. There has to be some sort of configuration problem that I can fix…. change my htaccess file or something. There’s no way I can put up with Messy URLs = /

Re: Newbie Help: Sections aren't working

aaahhh, my host (dreamhost) supports Clean URLs just fine. My problem was that when I copied text pattern over to the server to start with, I didn’t copy over the hidden .htaccess file that was included with it. So the mod_rewrite rules weren’t copied over, which is why it didn’t work.

Thanks for helping me narrow down the problem

my only problem now is getting it to redirect to my construction.html page when the site loads =/

Re: Newbie Help: Sections aren't working

Then copy your construction.html code into an “error_503” page template.
