Textpattern for Plant Nursery Site CMS
I am looking for a suitable CMS for a site I am building for a horticultural nursery. The site will not have e-commerce, but will eventually have a rather large product listing. I would prefer to load and maintain the products via database, but would like the ability for the customer to make changes and add products via the admin tool as well.
Can Textpattern suit this requirement.
Best regards,
Jason

Certainly. Take a look at We Love Txp to see what others are doing with Txp.

Some great sites on there! I appreciate your quick response. One thing that concerns me about TXP, is what I’ve read about its category management. How much different is TXP taxonomies than Drupal? Drupal is also a contender, but I much prefer TXP’s ease of use with regards to template creation.

Re: Textpattern for Plant Nursery Site CMS
I don’t have any experience with Drupal, but in Txp categories are currently limited to 2 per article.
However there is the very popular rss_unlimited_categories plugin to address this issue.
Unlimited categories are planned for the next major Txp release 4.1, but when that will arrive is pure speculation at the moment.
It’s also worth checking the Textpattern Resources for other plugins dealing with categories. There are some really sophisticated ones that for instance will build nice navigation menus based on categories with lots of options.

Ran across this post regarding TXP:

Is development on this platform ongoing? I need to trust that this is a viable platform to build upon.

You’re likely to get a few more responses on that ;-) but how about this interview in Digital Web magazine?
There have been constant improvements and welcome refinements to Txp during the two years I’ve been using it and the latest realese is only a few weeks old.
