Paginate through excerpts

Is there a way to paginate through excerpts

I have a custom catogory displayed on my homepage limited to one article. I want to be able to paginate through all the articles in that category 1 by 1 is there a way to do this?

I have found

txp:older
txp:newer

but these only work on an article page I need this to work on an excerpt

I am using the code below on my homepage

<txp:article_custom searchsticky=“1” limit=“1” form=“default” category=“cat1” listform=“form1” />

article_custom does not paginate.
