Plugins and speed

How much can many plugins activated can modify the speed of a TXP installation?
May some specific category can slow down a site?
Are there any that not modify the site speed (e.g.: the admin site ones)?

I ask this to know if there are any plugins to avoid if the goal is the speed.

Thanks.

Re: Plugins and speed

Plugins can affect speed in two ways:
  1. loading the plugins takes time, even if the plugin isn’t used.
  2. some plugins generate a lot or heavy SQL queries.

Admin side plugins are also loaded on the public side.

You’ll have to benchmark to see how much plugins affect the speed of your website.

Ah – I didn’t realise that.

Time for me to do some housekeeping, I think…

Thanks, Ruud.

I assume inactive plugins are skipped though, and don’t affect performance, right?
