Installation problems
Hi All,
I’m having trouble actually getting textpattern to run/install.
I have a local server set-up using MAMP however I cannot seem to install/config textpattern at all.
I have amended the “hosts” and “httpd.conf” files and I copied over the textpattern files onto my sever however, I cannot seem to load the install/config pages through my browser.

Please provide more details about any error messages you get (and where/when they occur) and which changes you made.

“Not Found
The requested URL /textpattern/ was not found on this server.
Apache/2.0.59 (Unix) PHP/5.2.5 DAV/2 Server at example.dev Port 80”
I basically keep getting these messages, i’m guessing the textpattern are not being found.
I’m following the instructions in the written textbook…it refers to v 4.0.4 not the latest 4.0.6 however I don’t believe this should make a difference.

Check if .htaccess is there.

If you’re not seeing an htaccess file, open Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app and run:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
killall "Finder"Offline

If the /textpattern URL was not found, you installed the files in the wrong place.
