local host to live database shift problems
hi,
im running mamp for local hosting with this:
phpMyAdmin – 2.10.2
* MySQL client version: 5.0.41and im trying to shift a site to my web host with this:
phpMyAdmin – 2.11.0
* MySQL client version: 4.1.11I cant get the database to import into the web version.
I dont this the mySQL version matters right?
But does the phpmyadmin version need to be the same?

Try using the rss_db_admin_manager plugin.
If it doesn’t work, using either that plugin or phpmyadmin, please provide more details about what goes wrong… error messages and such.

Re: local host to live database shift problems
hi,
Sorry guys,
Ive finally got it imported successfully using phpMyAdmin – I have no idea why it went through without any errors this time-but what a relief.
As for the rss_db plug in, yes im a big fan of that for backing up/restoring live sites. However i cant get it to export on my local host. Also i dont know how to upload a remote sql file into it. Is there documentation on how to do this- the importing i mean?
thanks for you help.

Re: local host to live database shift problems
Kevin, you would simply use FTP to grab the file from whatever folder you defined for the plugin on the one site, then upload it to that plugin’s folder on the other site.
