poll: how would handle 300 new staff-writers?

hello folks,

I have 200-300 people that are writing a 1-3 posts about an event they’ll host. I’d like to give them each staff-writer access instead of posting and updating their text myself. Two questions:

  • Will I have trouble with so many users if they aren’t doing tons of posting and editing?
  • How would you recommend adding so many users?
    1. Use phpMyAdmin to create new user names and passwords? Then emailing them?
    2. Write a plugin for batch new user creation? (I’d gladly pay for your time and help.)
    3. Create a temporary and hidden user self-signup page. (Is such a thing possible?)
    4. Use the standard, tried-and-true textpattern method.

thanks!

3) yes its possible. mem_self_register has been able to do that for years. theres also mem_moderation if you need moderated capabilities that might be necessary for a community site.
