Does Txp have this and can i make a menu like this.

Hello,

For my site i need a three level menu.
I know that TPX has sections and catergories but does Txp has now subcategories.

And can i make a menu like this site : www.tamarawobben.nl with Tpx.

Hi Roelof, do you need subcategories here? I think your menu is actually a two level menu: section – article, sorted by month posted and you can get this ‘sublevel’ with <txp:if_different /> in the article listform. Adding accordion won’t be difficult as far as I can see.

Didn’t your site use Textpattern before?

Re: Does Txp have this and can i make a menu like this.

hello Els,

I tried it before but then without success and i saw that a lot of new plugins for a gallery and guestbook.
On that moment i couldn’t make a menu like this and no galleries. But I think that Typo3 is to much and to difficult for a site like mine.
So im looking again at TPX.

My menu looks now like this :

- Zwangerschap ( Section) Maart (Categorie) all the articles of that month.
- 1e levensjaar

So if the reader clicks on Zwangerschap he sees all the articles of maart and the menu only shows the months of Zwangerschap and the rest of the sections.

Re: Does Txp have this and can i make a menu like this.

The menu could be made with <txp:article_custom /> and something like this in the article form:

<txp:if_different><txp:section title="1" /></txp:if_different>
<txp:if_different><txp:category1 title="1" /></txp:if_different>
<txp:permlink><txp:title /></txp:permlink>

(I left out all html tags like ul and li, or h3 or whatever you want to use, but that is easy to add.)
You’d need to use sort="section asc, category1 asc" (or desc) in the article_custom tag. A couple of possible difficulties I can see:

  • The sort of the sections and categories is alphabetical, either asc or desc. That won’t give you the right order, unless you change the names (not titles) of your sections to for example 00-zwangerschap, 01-1e-levensjaar etc. and the names of the categories to 05-02-februari-2005, 05-03-maart-2005 etc.
  • I notice there are some category pages (months) that don’t have individual articles, and some that do. Do you want to keep it that way? If you do, it won’t be so easy to create your menu (though it might be possible).

I am not very good at javascript, but I’m sure someone here can help you to get it right for your menu.

Edit: you could also have a look at a plugin like rss_live_archive (example)
