index.php vs index.html

Sorry if this is a silly question.

I’ve successfully installed Textpattern. In the root of my domain, I have the regular Textpattern index.php file that comes with the install – in the root I also have a index.html that is just a basic placeholder or splash page until I want my index.php to be live. Unfortunately, when I go to my domain, I automatically see the textpattern index and it completely skips my index.html page. How can I make it first hit my index.html?

Thanks
