Tru_tags gotta hold of my heart
It’s Christmas Eve so I hope you are all chilling out and will only respond to this when you feel the need for your daily fix of forum fettling. I betcha a few of you can’t keep away even on Christmas Day!
I posted a problem in the plugins forum here
Tru_tags seems to have got hold of something and won’t let go. I cannot publish a new article, page or form. I cannot change any existing articles, pages or forms. I have to do it all through phpMyAdmin and I seem to be coping but I would like to go back to normal txp one of these days.
Can someone tell me a way to free up my txp again. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled tru_tags, repaired, optimised, checked and whatever to the database tables (where I have not seen a single error recorded) and I am still stuck.
Cheers. Condiments of the seasoning and a mellow blissmas to you all.

Re: Tru_tags gotta hold of my heart
Hi Peter, and a Merry Xmas to you too.
A few things that I go through in similar situations…
- Could it be a cache problem?.
- A cookie problem?
- Could it be another manifestation of the precondition failed behaviour

Re: Tru_tags gotta hold of my heart
Hi Yiannis
Thanks for your suggestions but I can’t see it being a precondition failed problem because it happens if I just try to add a space or a letter to a form etc.
How do I check if it’s a cache or a cookie problem? If I can change my CSS ok (which I have done), doesn’t that show that it isn’t one of those?
Strangely, I successfully added a comment and deleted it OK. Hmm… It seems like the Save mechanism isn’t working right on articles, pages and forms.

Hi Peter as you know I’m also not a technical expert but there are a couple of ways to check
Either check your site in a browser/computer you do not normally use or go to the Preferences and delete the cache and the cookies. Have in mind that if yu delete the cookies you will lose all the automatic logins you have in all the sites which possibly includes this forum as it is within them that those user preferences are stored.
The easiest way is to use the first method by checking the site in another browser. Aving said that, maybe someone with more advanced knowledge n this will helpfully step in and offer some more suggestions.

Re: Tru_tags gotta hold of my heart
Thanks Yiannis, I checked it with Windows Safari which I only use on my localhost usually so definitely would not have a caching problem, and the Cannot Save problem still exists. So you’ve helped me rule out some possibilities. It’s not really a pressing problem as the site is working so I’ll investigate more thoroughly after the merriments.
Thanks, and have a very enjoyable Christmas!

Re: Tru_tags gotta hold of my heart
I would start by just disabling all plugins, and see what happens.

Re: Tru_tags gotta hold of my heart
I disabled all the plugins but still cannot save a page, article or form. I can access my error logs but there are no errors at all. The logs are empty. Here are some raw access logs with some irrelevancies stripped out. Do they make any sense?
Notice the Post for css shows 200, but other Posts show a 302 or a Get 304

Re: Tru_tags gotta hold of my heart
AFAIK, the 302 response code means “found”, and the 304 means “Not Modified”
Could it be that your site is setup to send the “last-modified” header.

Re: Tru_tags gotta hold of my heart
It wasn’t set to send last modified header. I tried it with and without but still the same result. I am also pretty certain that I made no other changes around the time of installing tru_tags and this error seems to be a result of tru_tags.

Re: Tru_tags gotta hold of my heart
Thanks Peter.
It worked fine for me (I created 1 article and 1 form successfully, then deleted both), so if it is still borked, it is something particular to your browser/computer.
