dead rss/atom feed

hi…

yesterday, my rss/atom feed worked fine.

yesterday evening, i switched my textpattern installation from a test directory to a live site.

today, my rss/atom feed is dead. the site is fine, though – no other problems, everything working fine, even complicated plugins and the like.

my page has the standard links:

<txp:feed_link flavor=“atom” format=“link” label=“Atom” />
<txp:feed_link flavor=“rss” format=“link” label=“RSS” />

all ok there, right?

so… what’s gone wrong? any ideas? i’m stumped.

thanks…

Re: dead rss/atom feed

additionally, i’ve just noticed that my custom 404 page isn’t working either; dead links just get a old-school message from the server along the lines of “not found: the requested url /blahblah was not found on this server”, instead of my nice custom page.

i don’t know if this is related or not, but i thought it might be, so i’ll add it on here…

your new environment may be causing some tag errors in your feeds. If that happens the feeds break. You’ll need to carefully check there are no tag errors in the pages that go through your feeds. As a side note: I see that Ruud just checked in some changes into the 4.0.6 code to address this.

When you uploaded to your live host, did you remember to upload the .htaccess file? Sometimes it gets overlooked because it’s a hidden file on *nix systems. Might have something to do with your change in 404 behavior too if your local .htaccess had any ErrorDocument lines in it.

I guess an .htaccess problem do you try accessing some pages of your website? url site are messy or clean (www.yoursite.com/ttt/page or www.yoursite.com/?id=xx)?

Re: dead rss/atom feed

guess what, it was the .htaccess; i figured it out.

remember – when switching your site, and also switching computers at the same time, and also switching ftp programs, things can go wrong!

all fixed now, thanks for the replies.
