Preview article
I’ve read through the FAQ and couldn’t find a answer to this very simple question:
How do I preview a article?
I want to be able to see the article before it goes live on the frontpage.
I thought that I could use the hidden status, but I cant get it working:
I created a article with the id 63 and set the status to hidden.
Now I thought that I could see the article on my site if I used the id in the URL, but that doesn’t seems to work.
What am I doing wrong?

Only sticky/live articles are viewable from the front-end (yes, there are ugly workarounds, but I won’t mention them, because they stand a good chance of disappearing in the future).
The easiest way is probably to set the section for the article to a section that you normally don’t use and don’t link to from anywhere on the website, use the same style/template for that section as you do for the real section you want the article to appear in. It’s a bit more work than you might hope for.

The problem with this method is that the rss feed will be generated and the article will be pinged.

i’ve always found the regular mainly plain text ‘preview’ option in txp to be rather useless ;P

I’ve been wondering about this myself. I want to preview my article because of picture layout etc.
Someone in this forum mentioned that he sets the posting date into the future so he can see the article. I thought this was a brilliant idea and it does work (i.e. you get the “view” link on the write tab)… Is there anything wrong with this approach. If you publish an article with a future date… does it actually get pinged immediately? I also didn’t think it showed up on my rss feed since the date is in the future. I haven’t checked my atom feed though.
So what I’ve done so far is put a posting date in the future and then when I’m satisfied with the post, change the posting date to now. Anything wrong with this approach for previewing an article?

Feeds never contain future articles.
