Good photo albums?
Looking for a good photo album, to use in conjunction with a TXP site. I have used Photostack before, which is really nice but a little buggy and does not seem to be in current development.
JuxtaPhoto also looks nice, but do not know if it is easy to use with TXP – as in template integration.
Zen Photo looks good too, and has a comments feature.
Anyone got some experience with these galleries, or any others?

What features do you need in a photo album?
zenPhoto is pretty good. It’s private/password protected albums still suck though. Other than that, it’s really easy to create templates.
Be sure to avoid Gallery at all costs. Aside from being incredibly bloated, theming is extremely painful.

Easy to use and not buggy would be a start. And – I used Gallery before and hated it. PhotoPost is good but bloated and $$.

There’s Gallery on the top end, and those that feed the bottom rung, yet there is very little in the middle tier. 4images works good, that is if I was to want a little more oomph from my galleries than what singapore gives me.
These are the PHP galleries I know of: http://phpxref.com/gallery/

hehe, sounds like you need to help fix up photostack’s rough edges. I found the beta a couple of revs back worked for me (the one with swfupload, just needed some IE css fixes). Pity noel doesn’t have more spare time – it’s still my favourite lightweight version and I find it quite easy to theme. I don’t think he’s given up, though. Singapore as its founding father/mother does more but not as elegant.
There was a recent post on gallery scripts on smashingmagazine with various galleries I’d not seen before.
Report back on what you decide to go with…

Re: Good photo albums?
Zenphoto recently updated to version 1.1, with some nice new features. You should give it a try!

Thanks soulship. Pixelpost looks really nice. Is templating easy? I would use it next to a TXP install, so look and feel (headers/footers etc) is important.
Anyone played with Juxta Photo, or Zen Photo, in addition to Photostack? I’d like to hear opinions from those who have used Photostack and can compare it with another gallery.

Re: Good photo albums?
Templating it is deadpan, especially if you already have a nice tableless layout for your txp install. If you have an intricate layout it could get tricky, but as with anything else and trying to code glue two things together I think that would be par for the course with any others. Personally I think it would still be a more elegant solution. They have a great forum over there as well if you get stuck. The download it huge though, if you are on dial up (483k) ;)

Thanks for posting that — definitely worth a look.

Re: Good photo albums?
jstubbs, did you find a solution that you like?
i’m trying to setup zenphoto, but i’m getting a page not found error. textpattern is intercepting things for some reason. i was careful to use a directory for zenphoto that wouldn’t duplicate any sections or pages in textpattern.
any recommendations?

Re: Good photo albums?
Ended up using what the site already had – Photopost. They wanted to retain the old photos, so we just archived the Photopost install. For new images, we used vdh_flickr to make a gallery with Flickr. Really easy, actually.
