new kevinpotts.com
Awhile ago I launched the new kevinpotts.com, which houses basic information about my design services. Content-wise, it’s greatly simplified from the previous incarnation; design-wise, it’s just cleaner without all the grunge.
Feedback welcome, of course.

Re: new kevinpotts.com
You accomplished a very clean, visually comfortable and professional look – the first impression is an invitation to stay. I found myself a little confused by the technorati links on the contact page, but then I could be behind the times there along with my 56k. What should those links lead you to?

Re: new kevinpotts.com
Nice and clean portfolio !
A few remarks/suggestions :
- The main menu has the same visual weight as “simple text”. It could be bolder, like the section titles, but smaller.
- This pile of rocks and this sextant have a kind of a “default template illustrations” taste … I’m sure you could find someting better! The rocks are slightly too blue/cyan btw.
- The works gallery with poping legends is well done, though I think the yellow background of the legends rhymes with nothing, at least not with the background green and white.
- Why hiding your books so deep in the structure ?
So that was my little comments, “take them with gloves” ! (a french expression meaning that they’re very subjective)

Re: new kevinpotts.com
Thanks for your feedback. I did end up going in and making a bunch of tweaks. New improvements:
- custom 404 page
- changed the follover color per Ben’s suggestion … i like the new grey/blue better
- added covers of the books to the about page
- … many other small changes.
I like the weight of the navigation links. The design clearly delineates the nav from the body copy, so it doesn’t bother me. As for illustrations, I actually have a whole set of pictures that are prepped, but they all felt so generic. Maybe I’m trying too hard.
