Website blank page, and weird diagnostics...

Hi,

I had not checked my site for a few days… but I just noticed that nothing comes-up when I go to my site (blank page with no output)… I can logon to the admin, but when I go to Diagnostics, Firefox asks me if I want to download “index.php”

This is probably nothing to worry about… But any ideas as to what might cause such problems?

I am running the latest version of TXP. I only have a few plugins installed.

What is best way to troubleshoot? Things were fine a couple days ago… I have not touched site since then.

No big deal though… No rush… Not a high-traffic site. :)

(I bet I will figure things out right after I post this. Hehe.)

Oh, so it was a plugin that was causing the problem… very strange.

I turned off all three that I have installed…

Also, the diagnostics page just gives me no output and/or asks me to download an index file when I try to go to it.

Looks like the plugin that is making my site die is bit_rss 0.4.1.

One day it works, the next it breaks?

Why would the plugin work then not?

I wonder if the diagnostics page problem is related?

I just updated my previous post.

It was the bit_rss…

Basically, the site that is broken, is pulling-in the rss feed from my personal website, but via FeedBurner.

When I turn off the bit_rss plugin, my site shows-up, but the diagnostics page is still blank and/or asking me to download “index.php”.

Not sure how long the diagnostics page has been broken though, could have happened before the plugin broke.

Wow, weird. Now my site is blank again, but I can access the admin…

The diagnostics page still is a no-go… But I have turned off all plugins and my site does not show.

Have I been hacked?

I just turned off all my plugins and set the default template to say “hi” and I get no output when visiting the site.

I figure, either my server funked my installation of TXP, or I got hacked… Do any of you suggest I just re-install the latest version of TXP?

I had no idea txp could get this whacky on me… At least all my articles and pages/forms are still there.

Did you check your database? Any tables crashed, need repairing?

Not yet… I will fire-up phpMyAdmin when I get home… That is probably what happened. :(

I will post my findings later. Thanks for the tip-off Els… That will give me a good starting point for tracking-down the problem.

This is the strangest thing… Today my site is back up and fully functioning… All the plugins work, and even the diagnostics page is working… and the Visitor Logs page is tracking hits…

I did not touch or do anything to fix it.

I am baffled to say the least.

At least my site is back. :D

Maybe it was a server side thing then. A similar thing happened to me once. A couple of sites on the same server behaved strangely, I contacted the host who said nothing was wrong. And a couple of days later I got a mail saying the server had crashed and they had restored backups on a new server. And their backups were ancient… :( Luckily I had more recent ones myself.

Yikes! I have not yet fully checked if I lost any data… But things are running smooth… I am not paying very much for hosting, so it probably was something to do with my host. Hehe.

Thanks for the warning on that though, I plan on making my own, regularly scheduled, backups from now on. :D
