Image Path's Slash incorrect on upload

When I try to upload an image using the built in functionality, I recieve the following error:

c:\websites\mywebsite.com/images/2.jpg directory permissions must be 777

At first I changed the permissions on the folders to 777. I thought this would fix the problem but then I noticed that the slashes were inconsistant in the path. I’m assuming that is what is causing the problem but I’m still not 100% sure.

If anyone has seen this problem before or could suggest a possible solution I would be very thankful. I’ve searched around for a few hours and I cant find any documentation on this so I hope I’m not missing something quite obvious.

No, the slashes aren’t the problem.
