Err... how about adult sites?

I’ve used TP to publish an ‘spoof adult news blog’ where stories and headlines are inspired by free porn sites and galleries.

There is no XXX stuff on the actual site, not even a swear word. But links do point to XXX, so please be aware of this. Best give it a miss if you find adult humour, sex, porn, etc.. offensive.

I think it is an excellent layout. You need to specify a background for the body because not everyone’s computer defaults to a white background. It looks a bit naff and some links are hard to read on my grey background.

Thanks for spotting this. I’ve added a white BG to the stylesheet.

What browser were you using? I want to test it…

It still looks grey to me. I use Opera. Opera uses my Windows default colours for web page elements unless the author’s stylesheet specifies them. I use grey so I am not dazzled by all the white all the time. If you put body {background: #fff; } it should fix it.

What a perfect waste of time. Old school markup as well.
Boring content. Unoriginal Ideas without any individual inspiration.

( Nice try though )

Re: Err... how about adult sites?

The background is OK now. I think it’s an interesting idea to have a porn site without actual porn or profanities. People who don’t actually want to see the porn can keep up to date with the porn world without actually visiting it. But how many people will want to do that? Perhaps you will report back when you find out. Perhaps it will be a waste of time but maybe not. Good luck!

I won’t comment on the content (each to their own). Cute that it looks like newspaper-yish. :)

Re: Err... how about adult sites?

Hmmm… I’ve got background: #ffffff; in the CSS for body but it’s still not working. I’ll try adding a bgcolor=”#ffffff” in the body tag. But not now as I’m at work and would get fired accessing an xxx site hahaha

Not sure what you mean by ‘when the document.writes, he will write us.’…

Not the best code, sure. But often the choice is between writing the perfect code and doing other things. Had to compromise.

As far as content is concerned, well, you’re entitled to your own opinion of course. I’ve had some great feedback, a very godo review on one of the most important adult entertainment community sites and I’ve just won an award for Best Sex Blog (not the Webbys but not the last of the awards either).

I’m grateful to Textpattern for making available a very flexible CMS.

Re: Err... how about adult sites?

The markup could certainly be a lot cleaner, what with all the <span> tags and inline script. I’m with Mary on the layout — the newspaper look was a nice choice. The news-style headlines also lend the site a self-aware sense of humor. “SCHOOL GIRL ISN’T SUCH IF YOU LOOK CLOSE” — ha ha!

Congratulations: you have the dubious distinction of having given the porn industry its own version of The Onion. ;-)
