Publish As

I couldn’t find anybody suggesting this so here goes.

If there was a Publish As button next to the Publish button, it could save it with a new ID, as a new article. This would allow us to use existing articles as templates, which is great if you want to use HTML and have h2, h3, p, span, class, id etc set up so inexperienced users won’t have any problems filling in the gaps.

Re: Publish As

You know, this could be a really cool plugin: article templates.

Re: Publish As

LOL! I’m two years out-of-date again. That’s not bad for me!

This plugin is exactly what I was thinking of, Mary. Many thanks!

Re: Publish As

Re Article Templates. Thanks to Mary’s plugin, I am creating some now which people can Save New. But for my project, there are certain classes, IDs and layout which will be unique. So wouldn’t it be quite simple for designers to create their own article templates for their own needs, rather than having some generic ones? Or perhaps I am missing the point?

Re: Publish As

The only (user-related) problem, I’ve encountered with save-new in a workflow is that of identical post-dates. Only one of the items with an identical post date will be shown when articles are navigated by newer/older/next/previous.

Just have to remember to set unique post dates…

Re: Publish As

Dale,
Interesting point, never thought of that.
Would it help to have save new ammend the date by 1 second or something like that?

Re: Publish As

Oddly enough, I spent hours and hours cursing at the crappy next/prev/older/newer tags before I realized what was going on. may have even posted some grumpy HTF are these tags supposed to work. :)

Re: Publish As

Dale, are you using the latest version of the plugin? it is supposed to automatically check the reset time box for you.
