[request] Paginated Articles
Hello All,
Some thoughts on a plugin for paginated articles…
Currently, there’s an almost perfect plugin for article pagination called etz_pg.
I say almost perfect because it relies on the user to insert a blank line > then the [page]
tag > then another blank line everywhere they want the article to split. Works well, but doesn’t allow you to keep article page lengths consistent very easily. Could get confusing for writers with long articles that split multiple times.
My thought would be to create a plugin that functions something like rss_auto_excerpt, but for article pagination.
The plugin could have a length=""
attribute that would automatically split the article into pages after a certain number of characters/words/paragraphs.
I posted a similar thought to the etz_pg thread, but didn’t really get a response.
Thought I would post here to see if there is any interest in either building on etz_pg or working towards another solution.
I don’t have the programming skills to make this happen, but I’d be glad to contribute to it’s development in other ways.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Tom

Re: [request] Paginated Articles
Hi,
Expression Engine has a plugin that will split an article into multi-pages based on a tag that the author inserts (for example: {pagebreak}.)
I wanted to make it a little easier on clients, and also make pages that were well balanced in terms of word count (SEO)… so I setup a form that will insert the separator {pagebreak} at specified intervals — found here. FYI: Tis a work in progress… It functions well with copy that is not marked-up with a ton of complex html.
Not sure if that will help anyone… I do not know enough about TXP plugins to convert the EE plugin… I also do not have the time atm to learn. But, maybe someone else can do this? If not, once I have some free time I will try to covert the EE plug to TXP.
Cheers,
Micky
