Textpattern redesign while leaving old site up

I am doing several redesigns and want to install textpattern as my backend, but how do I do set up the new static pages and such while leaving the old site up in the mean time. I want to be able to preview the pages that I make in textpattern.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Setup a local install. You could use something like XAMPP.

You can either develop your site locally using XAMPP, or temporarily install textpattern in a subdirectory and move it to the root when it’s finished.

Another vote for XAMPP, I use the Lite version which weighs in at half the size of the full package and has all I need to develop locally.

Grab the zip, uncompress it to c:, run c:\xampplite\xampp-control.exe and start up Apache and MySQL, then surf to http://localhost.
