Re: TXPhorum: A simple forum solution for Textpattern

ABOUT SECURITY

I have been looking around for a forum + TXP solution and found, or not found, that there are no easy ways to integrate a stand alone forum in a TXP solution. Now I read about this TXPhorum and wonder about one thing. I don’t want unknown people, that I gave access to the forum, had access to the TXP articles as well.
How can I let people write to the TXPhorum but keep them out from all other TXP sections?

Re: TXPhorum: A simple forum solution for Textpattern

MagnusBerg,

There are two things preventing folks registered on the forum from accessing your TXP backend. The first is that as they are registered by mem_self_register they are given privileges of “None” which means they have no access (you can set something different if you want, but by default they have none). Second is you can use ign_password_protect’s alternate database table to store users.

Re: TXPhorum: A simple forum solution for Textpattern

Ok, I’ve gotten everything working after a few hurdles, however my replies are not counting, every thread says it has 0 replies when it has replies? Could anyone suggest where I should look, because I’ve read through every line of code and can’t see anything that sticks out.

Re: TXPhorum: A simple forum solution for Textpattern

Dear Ben
This looks like a great plugin that could prove really useful for me. One question – what’s the reason for having the post replies be additional articles, rather than comments (which kind of seem like post replies already?). Just curious; I’m sure you have a logic to it.
Thanks,
Nora

nabrown78. One reason, I guess, is that there’s no way to edit a comment once you’ve posted it.

Why not? With php yes. You just need to change the textpattern table to txp_discuss in those update and insert queries. Nothing more or less.

This thread has been replaced by this one here, as of TXPhorum v0.3.
