[plugin] [ORPHAN] TXPhorum 0.3 / A simple forum solution for Textpattern

TXPhorum 0.3 is available for download here.

This version features a “one-click” installation (in quotation marks because nothing is ever that easy).

Enjoy!

Apologies to anyone who’s been working hard on getting 0.2 to work right. My hope is that 0.3 is so easy to install that you’ll forgive me.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] TXPhorum 0.3 / A simple forum solution for Textpattern

Hi Ben,

Thx again for all your hard work. It is greatly appreciated.

I am however unsuccessful with the one click install:-(
None of the template forms, styles, or pages are installed. That wouldn’t be a real problem if I were able to manually install all the necessary template files, however I’ve look on all the threads and even the new V3 website and not been able to find them.

Could you please point me in the right direction.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] TXPhorum 0.3 / A simple forum solution for Textpattern

Forgive the innocent question: have you checked if they have not been installed? I got a “no permission” message after clicking install but the forms, pages, links etc. were actually installed. I know because I clicked twice for good measure and got them twice!
I had to install asy_wondertag additionally, and of course correctly install the mem_ and ign_ plug-ins. Then it did work for me.

The “permission” thing is a new requirement for admin side plugins that I forgot about, but which shouldn’t be too hard to fix. I’ve updated the install page with asy_wondertag and some of your other notes, Jakob.

Yeah I read Jakobs comment on the demo site and checked again.
I see no page templates, no css, and no new form(modules)?

I didn’t get the error message.
All my files have the correct read/write permissions.

timid,

Your site is clean? In other words, you don’t already have a PAGE called “txphorum” for example?

Exactly… Only the standard txp 4.0.6 pages, forms and css… straight out of the box?

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] TXPhorum 0.3 / A simple forum solution for Textpattern

Update:

Ben, Jakob,

I decided to test the setup locally to rule out external issues.
1. Downloaded every required item again, including txp 4.0.6. Installed everything again so that txp is totally unspoiled by other plugins or content or styling.
2. Changed the language to english,
3. Tried the install link in FF and Safari

… and It still doesn’t install. No luck at all. I’m out of ideas :-(

When I have time I can put the Page etc in a text file so you can just manually add them to the site. I’m not sure why it would work on some machines but not others.

Hi ben,

Sorry to bother you… :-/
I don’t want to rush a busy man, but thought i’d politely ask if you had any luck with making the V3 txphorum (manual install templates available)?

David, as there are quite a few forms, pages, links etc. that it installs I’m sending you a mail with the SQL statements excerpted out of the plug-in.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] TXPhorum 0.3 / A simple forum solution for Textpattern

Jakob, Thankyou very very much!!!!

I’ve got the templates installed, A big thx.
There are however lots little problems I need to solve.
1. the generated urls are a mess (either missing site prefix i.e mydomain.com or outputting site prefix repeatly) Wether messy or one of the clean options they are always wrong pointing to non-exsistant pages and the 404 error.
2. I can only login from the txphorum_manage section (anywhere else gives me the 404)
3. Any posted articles are lost.

Obviously somethings pretty wrong. At this stage it’s certainly not working straight out of the box for me.

Re: [plugin] [ORPHAN] TXPhorum 0.3 / A simple forum solution for Textpattern

David, only saw your reply by chance (editing a post doesn’t register as new in the forum).

I’ve just gone through all the steps of installing on a clean installation. Yes, I can confirm it does not correctly install the tables from the install button. Installing them from the SQL file helped.
About the 404, try changing permanent link mode to section/title in the prefs (needs adding to the instructions – the link is to txphorum_manage/register but the page is on txphorum_manage/3/register which is why you get the 404).
I was then able to register, log on and write a test article and reply. If you still have problems, write me a mail and I’ll send you the entire db-dump of the clean install.
