How do I create a static site with a weblog

I am pretty new to txp and would like to make a site that has several static pages with a weblog that is not the home page.

I set up the site but found that my list of category links on the weblog page always lead to displaying the articles in the default page or section of the site.

Do you know how to change the category list so that it directs the articles to show up on the weblog section/page rather than heading back to the default.
