Re: How do I turn off comments for an article

  1. Click the “More” link in the right column in the Write tab.
  2. Select “No”

This will only show up if you’ve got “Accept comments” set to “Yes” in Admin>Preferences.

How do I get comments to default to yes ? In admin/preferences I have comments turned on, but when I view the article and hover over the comments icon nothing is clickable.

Go back to your admin prefs and you’ll find a setting for this.

Re: How do I turn off comments for an article

I found it under admin/preferences. So now the comments work, but its indicating an e-mail and name are required even though I have these selected to no in admin/preferences/advanced

Thanks

You can’t turn the email and name requirement off for comments.

Re: How do I turn off comments for an article

So the Texpattern help is incorrect ?

TEXTPATTERN HELP
Comments require name

If set to yes, people that want to comment on your blog, will have to enter a name in the comment-form. They will get an error-message otherwise.

No, that is how those preferences work.

Works okay for me: I can simply enter a message, nothing else, and it posts the comment just fine. All I can guess is some sort of strange caching is going on? Try clearing it.

Re: How do I turn off comments for an article

I think my problem is I recently loaded a new Textpattern template and part of the instructions was to load 19 forms some of which overwrote the comments forms I initially installed from tp 4.0.4. The new comments form is looking for cookies rather than my comments settings in the tp admin section.

How can I get a copy of the original comment forms which came from tp 4.0.4. When I take a look at all my files from 4.04 (save to a local drive) I do not see any forms.
