z-index issues with visibility and IE 6

I am having some trouble to get a number of elements to be visible because of the z-index bugs in IE 6.

If anyone has any ideas how I can affect the z-index or position rules to affect a change, I’d be greatful,Thanks. Matthew

Mathhew, I have no Idea.
Looking weird, have you tried to populate all the empty anchors with an octothorpe ?

Re: z-index issues with visibility and IE 6

Marios,
No go. That didn’t accomplish anything. This is definitely a weird ie z-index bug. I can’t figure out why the heading for comments is showing, but the headings for profile and projects are not.

Its got me befuddled.

None of the .thumb_box contents are showing.

When I check the z-index in IE, (devtoolbar), it shows it as normal? Go figure.

Re: z-index issues with visibility and IE 6

@matthew,

I’ve looked at it a couple of times, I yet couldn’t find anything that would explain this.
Regarding the z-index: ( haven’t looked at yet)
What you would need to do, is to find the first parent element, that is common for all the elements that don’t show up, position that one relative, so it can have it’s own z-index, set it at a starting number of at let’s say +100.

Then usualy go down the tree, and increase by 100 each, so it gets +200, +300, +400, etc.

You’ve got also a couple of missing closing colons in your rulesets. ( Doesn’t harm usualy, but it’s consideredgood practice)

If you can not track it down, then I would start by commenting out the first child elements of the HTML code, that doesn’t display, and then insert one by one the descendents ( with their own background property each)

I see, if I got some time later at night, to help you track this down.

( My guess though is, that it doesn’t have anything todo with the z-index )

regards, marios
( I see, you are at something really big there. Looking great, matthew )

Marios,
I’ve had some luck here, but there are still a few issues.

Also, thanks for the encouraging words about the design. I hope I can talk more about this project in the next couple of months. Its a doozie!

:)
