Changing comment times/dates?

Hey there, I just migrated my site over to a new server. I used a copy of the MySQL database that is a couple weeks old, so it was missing a few newer posts and comments. No problem, I just reposted them manually on the new server, and set the dates of the posts to match the old ones.

But I couldn’t find a way to edit the timestamps associated with comments, so they’re now stuck with new dates and times reflecting when I reposted them instead of their original post times. Can I fix this?

It’s not a big deal, and there are only six comments or so. I doubt anyone will even notice. But just the same, I’d prefer that the site on the new server is identical to the way it used to be. And it’s my fault for not using a current database, but what’s done is done. :-)

Re: Changing comment times/dates?

You can use phpMyAdmin to change the dates, it even has a nifty calendar popup to help you.

Re: Changing comment times/dates?

Terrific! I was thinking this might be possible but I didn’t know if Textpattern used its own system for keeping track of this stuff, and I was afraid I might break something. It worked perfectly, thanks for the help!

Any idea why this isn’t editable directly within Textpattern, when every other element of a comment is?

Re: Changing comment times/dates?

I don’t know why the date is protected on comments, the only thing I can think of is that changing their order would throw off a running conversation. Like if you change the date of your post above and place it under mine, then the thread appears awkward.

You just answered why. :)
