Textpattern & Zen Cart
I’m looking into setting up a textpattern powered site but need to include a pay per download shopping cart. I’m under the impression that zen cart would be the way to go. My question is if textpattern is setup on the root of the server how do I setup the shopping cart section? Is it as simple as creating a shop floder and installing zen cart there. Very basic question but this would be my first shopping cart and looking for any advice….

Re: Textpattern & Zen Cart
at least zen cart seems to be aware of and liking textpattern.
all other searches i did returned results basically saying, that zencart integration into textpatetrn is a timeconsuming issue, though there’d be loads of people willign to donate to this enterprise.

Re: Textpattern & Zen Cart
Thanks for your input Jayrope. I’m not so much looking at integrating zencart and textpattern as this seems to be quite problematic (http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?pid=127770#p127770) but running both side by side.
Zencart is also optional if anyone has another suggestion for a shopping cart (no tables) that will allow shipping of physical products along with a pay per download option.

Re: Textpattern & Zen Cart
what do you mean by “no tables”? html or DB?

Re: Textpattern & Zen Cart
Is it a matter of installing textpattern at the root and then creating a section with a form that calls in the shopping cart system. Just trying to scope this out before offering it to a client. Any help very welcome.

Re: Textpattern & Zen Cart
I would install TXP at the root, then Zen in a folder of your choice (‘store’ or ‘shop’, etc).
You shouldn’t have a TXP section with the same name as that folder.
Then, just link to the Zen system with hard coded navigation links, and using matching CSS for Zen (if desired).
There could well be more sophisticated ways to do it, but that has worked fine for me with a number of apps that co-exist with TXP.
Cheers

Re: Textpattern & Zen Cart
Thanks Neil. Thats exactly what I needed to know. I’m sure there are more sophisticated ways but I’ll stick with the easy route for the moment. Thanks again
