Copyright?

Textile now only turns (c) into © when it’s at the end of a word (and removes the space between the word and the symbol), like so: word ©

The way I see the copyright symbol used most often is before a word (mostly a year) like so: ©2006 Cool Things Happen

Is there a way yo get Textile to turn (c) into © when it’s by itself or before a word?

Thanks

Re: Copyright?

Hi,

I don’t have any answer for this “translation” but I know that if you’re using oftenly (is this english?) this copyright notice there is an interesting plugin sed_copyright v1.3, maybe it’ll help you.

Cheers!

Re: Copyright?

vifort, thanks for the suggestion. But I’m looking for a solution to this particular need within Textile. I have a friend that I set up a textpattern site for, after telling him all about how cool and easy Textile is, he went on to “discover” a few little quirks, one of them being the copyright issue.

Re: Copyright?

Thanks Mary, but technically it’s not a bug. It acts the way it’s supposed to according the the docs, however that’s not as most people would actually use it. Most people would put the symbol before the year with a space between them, not after a word/year with no space.

Correct: © 2004 – 2006 Acme Products Corp.

Incorrect: 2004 – 2006 © Acme Products Corp.

Actually just look at the bottom of this forum page: © Copyright 2002 – 2005 Rickard Andersson

There’s no way to do this in Textile without actually using the symbol or the character entity.

Re: Copyright?

Please try reproducing problems with the Online Textile Preview. That’s running the latest version of Textile — more recent than the one in Textpattern 4.0.4, or on this forum — which includes some relevant changes. If the problem shows up there, report it as a bug. If it doesn’t, it’s already been fixed.

It’s reasonable to suggest a feature that isn’t usable for its intended purpose, as a bug.
