Custom Google search engine for Textjunkies

I’ve started to build a custom Google search engine for Textpattern which focuses on sites covering our very topic instead of throwing results from ePay, WordPress, and other disjunct content at you. This custom search engine is open for contributions, so play along for yourself and add sites you consider worth searching. Be gentle, anyway!

In case you missed the buzz: CSE is like Squidoo, but with less Godin and more Schmidt. A general overview on Google’s Custom Search Engines is here.

Cool. I just heard about this too, but hadn’t had time to look at it yet.

Re: Custom Google search engine for Textjunkies

Nice, I added a link to it on the Textpattern Planet site.

Now we have Rollyo and Google searches for Textpattern.

Thanks for setting it up.

Nice work Robert. Is it legitimate to add our own blog, if it is about textpattern ?

regards, marios

If you think it adds value for users, of course. A rule of thumb: Would you use the engine yourself, judging from the quality of its results? OTOH: Spamming the engine by adding a v14gra themed website wouldn’t be of much use, as Google applies its relevance criteria anyhow.

Re: Custom Google search engine for Textjunkies

I’ve posted a search add-on to include the engine into the Firefox / Seamonkey search bar. Quite handy…

Robert, that’s just great, and even better with the firefox search. Very useful.

That search bar addition comes in quite handy, web services are very empowering to say the least.

Re: Custom Google search engine for Textjunkies

Google appointed customsearchengines.com to provide a directory of all CSEs and to market their solution, so they run a beauty contest: The voting booths are open!

Re: Custom Google search engine for Textjunkies

Thanks. Strange, Google sent no notification and also doesn’t provide any volunteer details. Beta™, really.
