Seeing some content.

This is probably a very simple question..

I just installed TextPattern for the first time and everything seemed to be going great. I decided to install it in mysite.com/2.0. (Currently there is an htaccess in the root directory that redirects to mysite.com/1.0/) After adding some content, I tried to go to mysite.com/2.0/index.php but got a 404. So I went into index.php and put an echo statement in there, and sure enough, it showed up.

So my index.php is definitely loading.. but it’s giving me a 404 error. What could be causing this?

Thanks very much for the help.

Re: Seeing some content.

What does your root .htaccess look like?

Re: Seeing some content.

Sorry, I should’ve mentioned that I deleted the root htaccess file and it didn’t fix the problem.

All my diagnostics pass and I can see the articles I’ve entered when i go to mysite.com/2.0/textpattern/index.php. Would the diagnostics be helpful to..um, diagnose the problem?

Thanks so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

Re: Seeing some content.

publish.php is dying at line 423 (if ($pretext[‘status’] == ‘404’)…) Could somebody please tell me what exactly would cause that variable to be set to ‘404’? I really don’t want to search through every included file to find it.

There’s data in my mySQL tables and all my diagnostics pass. I’m running version 4.0.3 of TextPattern. Has anybody else had issues installing this version in a subdirectory of their site?

Really, any information at all would help. I’m at a loss.

Re: Seeing some content.

Is your default section missing, or it’s page empty?

Re: Seeing some content.

Mary – I think it must be something like that, but when I go to my Presentation >> Pages section, I have a page called “default” and it isn’t empty. Is it possible that something that’s supposed to point to it isn’t? What else would cause TextPattern to show a 404?

Spencer –

Re: Seeing some content.

I think this might be your problem: Permanent link mode: title_only. If you change your Permanent link mode to anything else, does it “magically” start working?

Don’t forget to delete the sub-directory “setup”, by the way.

Re: Seeing some content.

That’s it, Mary!

So, I’m guessing that the problem is that it thinks “2.0” is a title? How do I fix that?

(Btw, I had deleted setup but tried reinstalling to fix the problem.. I’ll delete it again when we get this sorted out.)

Thanks again for the help!!

Re: Seeing some content.

It thinks that, becuase you have the wrong setting for Site-URL:

Site URL: mysite.com

It should be: mysite.com/2.0

Re: Seeing some content.

Problem solved! Thanks, guys. I had redone the setup but I didn’t realize that wasn’t part of the generated php.

Thanks again for all the help!
