Text in message area disappearing.

I’m using Firefox 1.5.0.7 on WinXP and over the last couple of days I’m experiencing something kind of weird.

While I’m typing this into the Message area, my text is displaying fine, as soon as I click out of this textarea, the text disappears until I hit preview and the screen refreshes.

I frequent other PunBB forums and it’s only happening on this one. I know it can be an extension that I have installed in Firefox, maybe it’s spellbound, don’t know.

Just wondering if anyone else has encountered the same thing?

Re: Text in message area disappearing.

That sounds familiar – I think I may have experienced that problem before, though I haven’t for some time. About the only thing I can suggest: run Firefox in safemode, and try it, see what happens.

If it doesn’t happen then, you’ll know it is indeed a plugin doing it, and you can start the process of elimination. Some other possible causes would be Greasemonkey and Stylish.

Re: Text in message area disappearing.

This is a test of safe mode in Firefox 1.5.0.7.

Working fine, I think it’s the spellbound extension doing me in.

Thanks Mary.

I can confirm that Spellbound in FF does do this every now and then… :)

Re: Text in message area disappearing.

Let’s hope that Firefox 2.0, which includes the spell checking extension, doesn’t do the same.

SpellBound has been great for me, it sure helps me out when entering text on my sites and on support forums. I’m running SpellBound Development 0.9.8.20060108, I think that’s the latest version cause I can’t find anything newer.

Not to incite a browser war, but Opera integrates with Aspell easily.Though I’m too lazy to spellcheck my writing :D.

Also, TinySpell was on Lifehacker the other day, but I haven’t used it yet. Maybe it works for textareas.

Re: Text in message area disappearing.

Running Firefox 2.0rc1, the text is not disappearing anymore and the spell checking is working fine.
