What might I expect from 4.0.4?
Hello.
I’m going to start a blog and I’m very doubtful: Wordpress ot TXP?
I like very much the modern WP K2 theme from Michael Heilemann and Chris J Davis, with all his AJAX hacks but I’ve learned to love the flexibility and the community of TXP.
So the question: how the 4.0.4 version will be?
What are his promised features? Trackback, maybe?
I’d prefer to start with the 4.0.3 and then upgrade to the latest version, instead of starting with WP and then try a difficult migration…

Re: What might I expect from 4.0.4?
Hi,
I converted the Kubrick theme to Nucleus a while back and was planning on doing K2 when it became stable. Then K2 took on a life of it’s own, forever being updated and in the mean time I decided to switch to Textpattern.
Kubrick is no K2 but I don’t see why the basic style of it can’t be ported to Textpattern, since Kubrick has already been done.
As for 4.0.4, have a look at the timeline to see what’s been changed.
We Love TXP . TXP Themes . TXP Tags . TXP Planet . TXP Make

This is what is new in 4.0.4. Hasn’t been updated in a month though, so it doesn’t contain all the improvements:

Trackback, maybe?
No.
If what you want is a full blown blog app, you’ll prefer WordPress.

Any chance of a Trackback plugin update? The old one doesn’t work with 4.0.4.

You might have more luck asking on the plugin requests forum.
Also see the FAQ.

I don’t mean the style but the AJAX functions.

Why? Trackback, according to you, aren’t useful or because they are a too easy SPAM target?

Dev team: Please don’t ever put trackbacks in Textpattern. :)

@Nathan
i clearly see the problem with trackbacks (spam) though many useres like trackbacks and should make their own experiences. A better solution to me is including tb but one not has to ‘switch’ it on.

The best solution would be the choice to switch the trackback function on or off. I know it’s late to enter in the dabate, just discovered this thread looking for a trackback plugin. I’ll try to post in the plugin’s request forum.
