Restoring the textpattern database
after exporting ALL my databases in phpmyadmin, I formatted by local dav machine. the problem is that i can not restore all db’s because information_schema was also exported. importing the whole sql file doesnt work since information_schema is installed by default in read-only. importing the sql file would overwrite that, so it gives an error
so, since im unable to restore everything by importing the sql text file, i copied everything from the old \xampp\mysql\data\textpattern (frm, myi, myd files) back into the new folder of that name. in phpmyadmin all textpattern tables + content now show up.
my question now is – is there anything else i need to copy back to the new xampp installation, like stuff from information_schema? or will txp function perfectly?
thanks

Re: Restoring the textpattern database
information_schema is a feature of mysql5, it has nothing to do with textpattern. If you read up on the mysql-docs, you’ll see that it is not needed when backing things up.
You can theoretically introduce incostencies when you manipualte the files directly while mysqld is still running. There is special tool for copying those files, while mysqld is still running (mysqlhotcopy, at least myisam tables), otherwise mysqld should always be stopped before manipulating those files directly.

Re: Restoring the textpattern database
i managed to restore everything by copying all the files and putting the backedup txp folder tree in its original location, after a fresh install of txp. i was able to stop mysql through xampp control panel
problem solved!
