SQL Issue - Insert query being cut off

Hi!

I thought I had finished an integration with Vanilla, but I have run into a problem…

using the txp function safe_query() I am trying to write an insert query to lum_comment.Comment – basically I have taken the global variable $thisarticle[‘Article’] and I am trying to insert it as the first comment in a new discussion thread on Vanilla automatically.

The problem is that the SQL fails if the article is too long, even after stripping out EOL codes… it is actually breaking in the middle of a word.

Why is this happening? lum_comment.Comment is TEXT type, not MEDIUMTEXT, but Still… I don’t understand why the query is failing.

Has anyone had any experience with this? I am going to try expanding the Comment field to being mediumtext, but I thought I would ask here as well in case someone else has run into long query issues with mysql.

Thanks!

~Jacob

Re: SQL Issue - Insert query being cut off

This is a Vanilla issue; you need to go into Settings > Application Settings and increase “Max characters in comments” value.
