RSS feed creation temp directory
I have a local test server running on my Windows laptop:
Apache 2.0.58
MySQL 5.0.21
PHP 5.1.4
I started playing around with RSS feeds today, I’ve never tried to generate a feed before:
Textpattern version: 4.0.3 (r1188)
I have the Textpattern temp directory set correctly cause I can upload images and files but the feed wants to create it’s temporary files in the documents and settings / bert / local settings / temp directory. This causes an error message to popup telling me that the file could not be saved.
I looked through php.ini file and the settings look fine, just wondering why the feed would not use Textpattern’s own tmp directory setting?

I think that is your browser trying to use a temp directory on your local drive, not a server action. I’m unable to open valid feeds in Firefox or IE, so that should not be surprising, but don’t get that kind of error message.

That is correct.
Is this at a publicly viewable site? can you share the url?

reid, I’ll look into the browser angle but wouldn’t it also affect any RSS feed link I click on on any site that I would visit?
Mary, the site’s on my laptop and it’s closed off. Let me install a fresh copy of Textpattern and see what happens then.

Ok, I installed a fresh copy of Textpattern 4.0.3 and all is fine.
Looks like playing with the RSS plugins gave the install some strange behavior.
PS. Sorry for the false alarm, I’ll make sure that next time I test certain aspects on a clean install devoid of plugins before I post.
