How-tos and Examples forum under Community?
Shouldn´t the How-tos and Examples forum go rather under HELP than under COMMUNITY?

Re: How-tos and Examples forum under Community?
This seems a bit related to the discrepancy I’m trying to work out here.
<strong>@All:</strong> Maybe what we need to do is not get so diluted and make a bunch of silly sub forums to begin with (which don’t work with the blue-dot indicators anyway). What is wrong with putting anything information- or documentation-related into a single top-level forum called “Knowledge Base” or whatever and then a forum moderator is assigned to deal with the respective topics in that collaborative forum (e.g., I would stick with TextBook related issues)? How-tos and Examples should be getting captured in TextBook as Tutorials and Tag examples anyway. The forum should simply be a staging area (as apparently needed), not the final destination. If we merge these related learning forums together into one main forum, instead of chasing our tails all over the place, then it’s easier to see what the hell is going on. Think of it as the Textpatter of documentation.
Obviously the forum is going through some changes, some consolidation and retention of forum functionality (blue-dots) would be a good thing.

Re: How-tos and Examples forum under Community?
The TextBook forum is a sub-forum because the other one already exists. I’ve already told you this is an interim solution.
…into a single top-level forum called “Knowledge Base”…
? It already is a top-level forum.
If we merge these related learning forums together into one main forum…
There’s only one.
How-tos and Examples should be getting captured in TextBook as Tutorials and Tag examples anyway.
Yes, they should. For months the forum’s description and the still existing sticky has pointed that out. I can’t make people use the wiki, you know that as well as I do. I will tell you that I agree the forum is not the right place for it, and it will not always be there.
Think of it as the Textpatter of documentation.
From the get-go, that’s what the TextBook forum has been for: organizing and discussing TextBook’s docs.

Re: How-tos and Examples forum under Community?
Alexandra: well, it’s partly a matter of semantics – the help category is basically for soliciting help, where you just pop in and ask a question (even though it’s already elsewhere, I still have to keep moving “how do i?” questions from that forum to where it belongs). As Destry has pointed out, it was never intended to be a long-term holding ground, but a place to hash out a particular tutorial, and then move it to the wiki.
Give me some time, better things are coming.

I’ll zip and watch ;)
But just for the record, because I think you misunderstood me a bit. What I was was trying to get at is to perhaps merge all threads in this forum, that forum, and this on too so it’s no longer three separate places (main, sub, or otherwise), but rather a single new Forum called…whatever you want to call it.
By the way, I’m making efforts to channel some of the information in various learning threads to the wiki as Tutorials, which will make it easier to let those threads drop into oblivion later. So, I’m trying to work with you here, not against.
Thanks for your efforts, Mary, we do appreesh!

Not wanna drive anybody mad though i like to suggest to place Community News and Announcements just below Official Announcements.
Other than that, take your time girl :)
