Re: Basic img resizing/rotation in core code
Usual applies: you can hire us. Or hire someone else and send a patch.

Re: Basic img resizing/rotation in core code
Maybe this part of the forum should be called “Hire us Ideas” and not “Feature Ideas”.

Re: Basic img resizing/rotation in core code
Depends on whether or not you want things to get done, I guess.

Re: Basic img resizing/rotation in core code
Not really. If I wanted to hire the team I would, if I could submit a patch I would, if I wanted to hire someone else I’d try – but I wanted to submit a feature idea so I did. That’s all.

Re: Basic img resizing/rotation in core code
Hi lee,
I’ve been following various threads related to core image handling on these forums, they all have great ideas as to what can be added to the core.
From my perspective, I prefer a really slim app running on my servers, so I resize or crop my images locally on my machine and then upload them. XnView is an excellent program that is free and runs on your toaster, if a client can’t figure out how to use it, then an online version of it would be just as daunting.
But let’s take the argument of adding these functions to a core that weighs in at a 280KB download. I’m all for not having to reinvent the wheel so we’ll use something like phpThumb(), or better yet why not just tack on something already pre-built for us like iManager, which weighs in at 3.55MB. Ok, let’s strip out the fonts for watermarking and we’re down to 1.93MB, we could go on removing features but I hope you see where I’m arriving at.
I’m in no way disagreeing that this kind of feature would not be customer cool, but keep in mind what you’d be adding to the core.
