Is this possible with Textpattern?

I have build a kind of tutorial website, well I almost done with it’s layout, like 90%.

But I am looking for an easy way to add content to this existing layout. Is this possible with Textpattern?

Cause I want the following things, as an example;

Main thing:
Tutorial Database; I want to add tutorials with pictures and text.
People should be able to search the turtorials by date, name, etc.

This should be divided by the following possibilities, which are also shown:
Top 5 tutorials, Latest tutorials, etc.

Will this be possible with Textpattern or not?

I hope that whoever reads this, will understand what I want. Cause my native language is not English and it’s hard to explain what I really want.

If you have another recommendation, I am willing to listen. Please advice.

Regards,
HHawk

Re: Is this possible with Textpattern?

Hi,

Anything is possible with Textpattern but it may be easier to use something meant for your task.

phpMyFaq out of the box gives you what you need, see how this site is using it.

Then you can use Textpattern for the front end with a link to your tutorials.

Re: Is this possible with Textpattern?

Thanks for your answer, highly appreciated.

I gave phpMyFaq a try, but it’s not really what I am looking for.
Though it’s good for adding Tutorials, but it’s a bit too simplistic, if you catch my drift.

Can you recommend something else, which does the same thing, but maybe a bit more expandable / customizable?
Again thanks in advance for your input…

Thanks for the suggestion. I will give it a try, to see if that works better for me.

And thanks again for the quick answer.

You should be able to achieve almost all of that with Textpattern right out of the box. Textpattern provides the means allowing visitors to search/browse by date, category, section etc.

I’d think only for your <i>Top 5 Tutorials</i> you might need to resort to a plugin such as <a href=“http://www.larry.org.mx/jas-popular-articles”>JAS Popular Articles</a>

I learned an awful lot by readig the <a href=“http://textpattern.com/faq”>FAQ</a> and especially the <a href=“http://textpattern.com/faq/147/common-how-do-i-questions”>Common “How Do I?” questions</a>

Cheers Martin

Re: Is this possible with Textpattern?

Everything you list is possible with Textpattern. It’s pretty easy—here are two examples with TXP: Proweb.cc and CJB.cc.
