Dreamhost "Unknown section" 404

I can’t see article pages. I have read the <a href=“http://textpattern.com/faq/66/404-error-when-linking-to-article-pages”>FAQ on Clean URLs</a>, where I read that Dreamhost should support Clean URLs out-of-the-box.
I read the <a href=“http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Making_stats_accessible_with_htaccess”>Wiki at Dreamhost</a> on stats and .htaccess.
I read a few threads in the Dead Letter Office including <a href=“http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=13341”>this all too similar one</a>, and <a href=“http://forum.textpattern.com/viewtopic.php?id=12833”>cannon view sections</a>.
I even checked out some threads on other sites. I’ve mangled my .htaccess file and started from scratch repeatedly. I know I’ve missed <i>something</i> or bumped some switch somewhere by accident.
Is there anyone on Dreamhost using 4.03 that can see their stats, and sections and articles using clean or messy urls (I’ve tried both and don’t care at this point)?

What happens when you switch to section_id_title permlink mode? Do you see the same errors, or something else?

I don’t have anything really clever to offer, but I have around 20 TXP sites hosted on Dreamhost all using the bog standard htaccess file, so it suggests that the problem lies within your txp install.

It’s not a clean URL problem. messy urls are broken too.
My guess would be your ‘review’ section is set to use a page template that no longer exists.
